We wrote “Stripped” based on Dorsey’s desire to give an inside perspective on the lives of athletes and the many challenges they face on and off the field.  The media is inundated with stores of financial failures, marital problems and even suicide concerning players, so it was time to tell the true story.  We were fortunate to have the opportunity to interview people who have really been impacted by what many can only read about.  This helped us bring a unique and accurate perspective on this phenomenon.  What are your thoughts about this storyline?  Take a look at the play’s synopsis and let us know what you think.

“Stripped” peels away the layers of the life of professional football player, Jayden Dorsey, revealing the true charge and sacrifice of being a high profile athlete. Along with Jayden, the lives of four other ball players are scrutinized, quickly offering a true “fly on the wall” perspective of the price that is paid by these men and their mates. What must you give up in order to have the fame and fortune that comes along with the limelight? And who stands beside you when the fame is fleeting and the fortune has dried up? “Stripped” is riddled with intense dramatic scenes, tested faith, unyielding perseverance, and comedic overtures that will lighten the heavy moments and have you falling out of your seats. This uniquely crafted storyline will capture the attention of all audiences taking them on a ride they won’t soon forget! 

Many art lovers have become disenchanted with urban/contemporary theater.   Some site issues with the storylines, production quality and even performance venues.   The TakeOver Project aims to tell new stories….ones that audiences have not seen played out on stage, in a professional manner.  We call our shows “Broadway ready”.  What are some of the issues you see plaguing this art form?  What can we do in the theater community to remedy these problems?
